Overview

To deliver, operate and maintain world-class airport infrastructure and facilities, we need to work with the best available suppliers of goods and services.

The procurement operations at Abu Dhabi Airports are aligned with our guiding principles, which provide us with purpose and direction.

This ensures that our Procurement team always remain:

  • Committed
  • Collaborative
  • Exceptional

How We Procure:

Working primarily from our headquarters, our procurement team’s main objectives are obtaining the best value for money and securing maximum operational benefits for Abu Dhabi Airports.

We support all the Abu Dhabi Airports’ departments to accomplish their requirements and meet their goals.

Ethics-Based Procurement

As a responsible corporate entity in a competitive marketplace, our procurement team at Abu Dhabi Airports focuses on:

    1. Ensuring accountability in our relationships with both potential and established vendors. Read about how we achieve this using our e-Sourcing technology
    2. When soliciting bids or proposals, achieve the highest degree of market competition.
    3. Imparting equal, fair and non-preferential treatment to all bids and proposals throughout the procurement process. All bids and proposals are uniformly solicited, evaluated, and awarded on this basis.
    4. Maintaining the highest standards of corporate responsibility in relation to all stakeholders and the environment.

Sustainable Procurement

Abu Dhabi Airports is committed to conducting its business operations environmentally and socially responsibly. As part of this commitment, we recognise the importance of sustainability in our supply chain and are committed to promoting sustainable practices throughout our supply chain.

At Abu Dhabi Airports, we take seriously our responsibilities to the communities and the environment in which we operate. To this end, some of our key procurement initiatives have included:

  1. Promoting the use of Khalifa Fund companies: The Fund aims to create a new generation of Emirati entrepreneurs by instilling and enriching the culture of investment amongst young people and supporting and developing small to medium-sized investments in the Emirate.
  2. In-country Value (ICV): In our tenders, the suppliers are requested to provide their ICV certification scores, which are considered in the overall evaluation, emphasising the supplier's commitment to developing the UAE economy.
  3. Moving towards a paperless office environment: Our procurement tendering process is electronic, which helps reduce paper consumption and energy while increasing process efficiencies, such as reducing the procurement cycle time.
  4. Reduce carbon footprint: Electronic tendering reduces printing, chemical emissions, and electricity use. Online meetings reduce physical communication. Both together contributed to the reduction of carbon footprint.
  5. Abu Dhabi Airports is committed to engaging with vendors that can provide sustainable solutions.

In this regard, the vendors participating in the Abu Dhabi Airports tendering process are required to contribute to Sustainable Procurement and are expected to:

  • Comply with all the applicable laws and regulations related to sustainability, including but not limited to environmental regulations, labour laws, and human rights laws.
  • Take steps to minimise the environmental impact in the supply of goods or provision of services by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving natural resources, maximising the use of recycled materials and minimising waste.
  • Treat their employees respectfully and provide fair working conditions, including safe working conditions, healthy living conditions and fair wages.
  • Respect human rights and not engage in any practices that violate human rights.
  • Provide transparency to Abu Dhabi Airports with regard to their supply chain and disclose any potential sustainability risks or issues that may impact Abu Dhabi Airports’ business.
  • Demonstrate their firm contribution and commitment towards Emiratisation, offering opportunities for young Emiratis and residents to learn and develop through internships and graduate opportunities.
  • Continuously improve their sustainability practices and work with Abu Dhabi Airports to identify opportunities to promote sustainability throughout the supply chain.
  • Submit ICV certification.
  • Submit carbon offset certification or equivalent sustainability certificates if their business is certified by accredited agencies.
